XTM Custom MT for Intento Quick Guide

With the 12.5 version of XTM Cloud, XTM introduced the Custom MT feature, making it extremely easy to connect Intento Machine Translation to your translation workflow, giving you the flexibility needed when choosing the best-fit MT.

This Quick Guide covers Custom MT configuration for Intento (for administrators) and instructions on how to use it in various projects.

Custom MT configuration for Intento MT

You will need administrator rights in XTM to configure Custom MT. In order to add Custom MT configuration please click: Configuration -> Settings -> Translation -> Machine translation -> Add custom MT

As a result, you will get Add new custom MT window:

Please contact us via support@inten.to to get the credentials to configure Intento Custom MT.

Once you have completed Intento Custom MT configuration with the credentials received from the Support Team, please click on the Add button at the bottom of the window.

Once you have done that, you will see Intento in the Custom MT section

This concludes the Custom MT configuration for Intento MT.

Using Intento Custom MT

The decision of whether to use Custom MT is configurable when creating a project in the Project, Editor, and in the Project template editor.

Configuration per project

You’d use Intento Custom MT the same way you’d typically use any built-in MT engines in XTM. Please follow your usual project creation workflow  (selecting a Customer, project name, source and target languages, etc.). As you do that, you will see Use Intento checkbox in the Machine translation section of the screen:

Please make sure to mark the checkbox. Now click Choose model button and select Use Custom MT against each language:

Please confirm by clicking the OK button. Now your project is configured for Intento MT.

Please note that Populate target with match option determines whether MT match gets populated to the target:

If you choose Never, the MT match will be present in the Matches section of WorkBench, but not in the target field for the segments.

NB: currently there’s no way to automatically re-populate the segments’ target with MT once the project analysis is complete. You’d need to go through the segments one by one and manually choose Accept and insert match:

Click the Create button to confirm the project creation and initiate the project analysis.

Intento Machine Translation is active during the project analysis phase before the project workflow starts. Once the project analysis is finished, you will see the updated Machine Translation metrics for your project in the Metrics section:

In Workbench, you will see MT matches in the Status column (1) along with MT matches in the Matches window (2) at the bottom left.
